This Bulbophyllum was found about 40 kms. west of Baler, Aurora - Philippines in April 2005. Estimated altitude 800 mts. It was growing on a downed tree that when growing would have been 8 meter tall. The sepals measure 8 mm x 3 mm and the petals are 4mm x 2 mm. The flower opens in the early morning and by mid-morning it closes. This opening/closing cycle continued for about 4 days for the specimen shown above. Inflorescences have continually appeared for 3 months and as can be in the photograph above another has emerged and will bloom within the next few weeks. This plant shares the habitat of the Bulbophylum maquilingense in the same area.
