Bulbophyllum maquilingense

This specimen of the Bulbophyllum maquilingense was found 40 kms. west of Baler, Aurora - Phillipines on April 2005 at an estimated elevation of 800 mts. Jim Cootes gives a very good description of this orchid in his book The Orchids of the Philippines published by Times Editions - Singapore. In the description the Labellum is described as highly mobile - layman's term the lip bobbles like hula girl doll on the dash of a Land Cruiser traveling down a washboard road. Highly entertaining when contemplating the finer details of the exquisite little plant and waiting for the pollinator to show. The pollinator never did show.
